Turkey Butternut Squash Chili

We live in Phoenix, Arizona, which means we have about a 9 day window every year to enjoy true winter recipes, since it will actually be cold enough for a brief, sweet window of time. Within this tiny window, we embrace the chunky side of life. Chunky sweaters, a chunky boot and sock combo, and the glaringly obvious: chunky chili. Chunk-less chili is a depressing oxymoron of sorts, and we are not having it. Naturally, we want to have a health conscious and filling recipe that still hits the comfort food craving.  Continue reading

Cranberry Apple Sauce

While we may be crazy for all things pumpkin, (here’s looking at you, Pumpkin Scones) nothing really holds a candle to the flavors of Thanksgiving and Christmas. There is something so homey about certain tastes, flavors and foods, and when we think Thanksgiving, we think cranberries. A quality cranberry sauce pairs well with anything- meats, veggies, on a warm roll, or even straight off the spoon. A lot goes into a good cranberry recipe, since their natural flavor is quite tart. However, that poses a problem: how do we plan to sweeten our cranberry recipe in a natural way, without added artificial sugar, while still making this delicious? Thus, the Cranberry Apple Sauce recipe was born. Are we cranberry pioneers? Maybe.

Roasted Brussels Sprouts

You know the cheesy movies from the 90s where the shy girl gets the guy in the end after he finally sees her for who she really is? In this scenario, we are the guy and Brussels Sprouts are the shy girl, because after rejecting this vegetable in our childhood, we are head over heels in love with them in our 20s. We honestly cannot understand why these little green veggies got such a bad rap in our youth since we cannot get enough of them now. With our newfound Brussels love affair, we have perfected preparing these by roasting them, and cannot wait to share this recipe with you. These may just be your Thanksgiving must-have side dish!

Salted Caramel Apple Bars

Can you believe November is already upon us? We are in the thick of fall, people. While Christmas time may be right around the corner, we are still not done with all the flavors that fall has to offer us! We are kicking the month off with our homemade Salted Caramel Apple Bars. This recipe is a perfect ‘healthier alternative’ option for anyone looking to cut down on refined sugar while still treating yourself to something delicious. Not to mention, our stomachs are thrilled since these are gluten free and dairy free, while simultaneously tasting like heaven. No seriously– we made three batches this week alone.

Lemon Ricotta Spaghetti Squash with Chicken and Spinach

We are clearly on a fall flavor kick here on A Healthy Hint. Squash is a staple fall vegetable choice for us, but spaghetti squash in particular is something we feature in our recipes year-round. This is because we are carb hounds and love a good noodle dish… and our guess is that 9 out of 10 of you feel the same way! However, despite our love for pasta, it is not a meal we usually find ourselves eating and consider a hearty pasta dish more of a cheat meal for us, personally. That left us with a little problem: how can we go about satisfying our pasta cravings without sacrificing our target daily carb intake? Solution: spaghetti squash. This vegetable is such an easy one to make, and still has a ‘noodle-like’ texture which hits the spot for us when we are meal prepping.

Pumpkin Scones

Now that you have a homemade Chai Tea Latte recipe from A Healthy Hint, it only feels right to pair it with some homemade pumpkin scones and swaddle yourself in every piece of flannel that you own. We want to bring you healthy recipes and hints, but we always want to encourage you to recognize the importance of balance. This recipe may have more sugar than some of our recipes, but if there is one thing we cannot stress enough, it is that your healthy lifestyle is truly a marathon, not a sprint. Take time to create some spiced, sugary goodness, and enjoy all that fall has to offer you!

Chai Tea Latte

We are bringing you all the fall flavors we can possibly muster this month! One thing we both can never seem to give up is our daily coffee runs. We don’t have a problem spending $5 a day on a coffee, but we do have a problem with what goes into that cup. Did you know that a Starbucks Venti Chai Tea Latte has 53 grams of sugar?! Keep in mind that this is more than double the daily recommended sugar intake for a woman in a single (yet delicious) beverage.
