We are obsessed with Greek and Mediterranean food. We are not obsessed with the fact that we don’t get to enjoy pita bread or naan when we eat these foods, however. Being gluten free is easy for the most part, but the lack of gluten free naan and pitas is just rough. Naturally, we decided to make our own! This Homemade Naan (Gluten & Yeast Free) recipe is so insanely good, and best of all, insanely easy!
If you live in Arizona, there is the most delicious Mediterranean restaurant ever, Green Corner. They have a location in Mesa and Chandler, and we drive from Paradise Valley and Tempe just to get there. We swear by it, and go there so often that they not only know our names, but our entire order, down to us asking to leave out the pita from our plates. The portions are massive, and should be enough for a single meal yet we always manage to polish off the entire thing in one sitting.
Pro tip: order the chicken shawarma plate, sub baba ghanoush for the salad, and prepare for a good coma. They also have the most incredible French fries, which sounds random but trust us– order them! We truly cannot say enough nice things about Green Corner, and the staff is truly so kind. We drive 25+ minutes one way out of our way to eat there sometimes from home, and it is always worth it.
If you are feeling extra ambitious, you can make your own hummus to enjoy with this naan as well! Our Roasted Beet Hummus is a delicious and unique hummus. Plus, it looks really pretty in pictures if you want to add a little zest to that Instagram story of yours. We get it.
Homemade Naan (Gluten & Yeast Free) Recipe
We hope you love this Homemade Naan, and please let us know what you enjoy it with! We love hearing feedback from you, and love inspiration on when we can enjoy this, too!

Homemade Naan (Gluten & Yeast Free)
Equipment
- Large bowl
- Rolling Pin
- Cast Iron Pan
Ingredients
- 2 cups all-purpose gluten-free flour, plus more for flouring
- 1 1/4 cups nonfat plain Greek yogurt
- 2 teaspoons baking powder
- 1 teaspoon honey
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 2 tablespoons butter, melted
- 2 garlic cloves, minced
- flaky salt
- parsley or cilantro, for topping (optional)
Instructions
- In a large bowl, mix together the yogurt, flour, baking powder, honey and salt until a dough forms. If the dough is too wet, add more flour. If the dough is too crumbly, add more Greek yogurt.
- Transfer the dough to a lightly-floured surface and divide into 4 equal parts and roll out each part to about ¼ inch thick.
- Heat a cast iron skillet over medium/medium-high heat. Place the dough on the skillet and let it cook for 1-2 minutes or until it begins to bubble. Flip it and cook for 1-2 minutes more.
- While the dough is cooking, mix together melted butter and minced garlic.
- Remove the naan from the skillet, brush both sides with butter/garlic mixture and sprinkle with a little flaky salt and optional herbs. Repeat with the rest of the naan and serve.
