Fudgy Almond Flour Brownies

We are supposed to hit 115 degrees here in Phoenix this weekend, which makes us cry a little (a lot) inside. Despite the heat, we would absolutely turn our ovens on to make these Fudgy Almond Flour Brownies, because they are pretty dang delicious! These brownies are extremely moist, fudgy, and bursting with the chocolate flavor we all truly love. They are gluten free of course, so you can still enjoy a classic treat the gluten free way.

If you are gluten free, we are willing to bet you have used almond flour many times to recreate classic recipes. We have really come to love almond flour, because it gives our baked goods incredible texture. It keeps our treats moist — a win, since many GF flours can be so incredibly dry. We are hitting you back to back chocolate recipes because EVERYONE could use some chocolatey goodness in their lives right now. Did you catch our Double Chocolate Banana Bread recipe?

If you need further proof that almond flour doesn’t disappoint, our classic Banana Bread uses mainly almond flour and is one of the most satisfying recipes we have ever shared with the internet.

There is also so incredibly nostalgic about these brownies. Growing up, we made brownies with our moms, and always were lucky enough to get a brownie battered spoon right as the brownies went into the oven. Did you ever get the same glorious treatment? Ugh, we are salivating at the thought. We won’t make you wait any longer. Here is the recipe you came for: Fudgy Almond Flour Brownies… with an optional Peanut Butter Frosting recipe, too! Although let’s be honest. Is it REALLY optional?

  • 1/2 cup sugar
  • 1/2 cup raw cacao powder
  • 2 eggs, at room temperature
  • 2 tablespoons coconut oil, melted
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla
  • 1/2 teaspoon baking soda

  • 1/3 cup chocolate chips

  • Preheat the oven to 350 degrees. Prepare an 8”x8” pan with parchment paper or nonstick baking spray.
  • In a large bowl, combine the almond flour, sugar, cacao, eggs, oil, vanilla, baking soda, and salt, and stir well to form a thick batter. Fold in the chocolate chips.
  • Transfer the batter to the prepared pan, then use a spatula to spread/press the batter evenly into the bottom of the pan.
  • Bake for 25 to 30 minutes, until a toothpick inserted comes out clean.  Let brownies cool before cutting.
  • If you want to step this recipe up and really please the crowd, top with Peanut Butter Frosting (⅓ of this recipe will be plenty!)
