Wild Rice Salad

Salad is definitely a love-hate food for most people. It is certainly not one of those foods that makes you stop and cry out, “MMM, delicious”– unless of course you are like us, and have come to really embrace and enjoy life as a chunky salad eater. However, this particular recipe takes a carb-rich approach to the salad, making it truly MMM, delicious and healthy, all in one.

Tahini Peanut Butter Freezer Fudge

Now that we are super serious, fancy food bloggers, we decided to kick things up a notch and experiment with a new ingredient: tahini. After a spark of inspiration from Kale Junkie (Life Changing Tahini Chocolate Chip Cookies anyone?) and a little bit of our other favorite ingredient, Peanut Butter, this recipe was born. Tahini was new to us, and it may very well be new to you too, so we wanted to give you a little background before diving into this GLORIOUS fudge recipe. Yeah, we said it. Glorious. That may even be an understatement, because this little treat is just that good.

Cranberry Apple Sauce

While we may be crazy for all things pumpkin, (here’s looking at you, Pumpkin Scones) nothing really holds a candle to the flavors of Thanksgiving and Christmas. There is something so homey about certain tastes, flavors and foods, and when we think Thanksgiving, we think cranberries. A quality cranberry sauce pairs well with anything- meats, veggies, on a warm roll, or even straight off the spoon. A lot goes into a good cranberry recipe, since their natural flavor is quite tart. However, that poses a problem: how do we plan to sweeten our cranberry recipe in a natural way, without added artificial sugar, while still making this delicious? Thus, the Cranberry Apple Sauce recipe was born. Are we cranberry pioneers? Maybe.

Roasted Brussels Sprouts

You know the cheesy movies from the 90s where the shy girl gets the guy in the end after he finally sees her for who she really is? In this scenario, we are the guy and Brussels Sprouts are the shy girl, because after rejecting this vegetable in our childhood, we are head over heels in love with them in our 20s. We honestly cannot understand why these little green veggies got such a bad rap in our youth since we cannot get enough of them now. With our newfound Brussels love affair, we have perfected preparing these by roasting them, and cannot wait to share this recipe with you. These may just be your Thanksgiving must-have side dish!

Despite not having family members to feed at this point in our lives, bulk grocery shopping still makes sense for us. We can effectively save money, stock up on our favorite food items, and get everything we need in one sweep without running to the grocery store all the time. Brace yourself: here are our top 20 healthy picks! Continue reading

Pomegranate Guacamole

As 20-something females, it is probably a given that we are really into avocados, right? Call us cliché, but we can’t get enough of this fruit’s (who would have guessed!?) creamy texture, flavor-enhancement ability, and uncanny power to make any weekday taco dinner a truly glorious one. It is only right that we create an avocado based recipe early on, since there is never a bad time for guacamole… or Mexican food, for that matter.

Almond Coconut Granola

We are notorious oat consumers. We put oats in EVERYTHING, from cookies to protein shakes to yogurt, and anything else we feel could use some extra texture. This means we think beyond breakfast with our oat passion, and bring them into lunches, dinner, snacks, and general food add-ons. We could go on and on about the multi purposes uses of oats, how they can be used in almost anything, and served warm, cold or dry but since no one has time for that, we will hit you with the basics.
